I love the base of the trunks of the Gul Mohar trees. They are actually the roots which rise up from the ground and create these caves and crevices which are ecosystems for plants, insects, small animals and a whole host of other natural things. As children I am sure some of us have played inside these trunk roots creating little houses for ourselves. The drawing above is made with ordinary Bril writing ink and a flat brush on newsprint paper.
