NIGHT
Lying awake at night sometimes – not restlessly, but serenely, waiting for sleep – the quiet re-establishes itself piece by piece; all the broken bits, all the fragments we’ve been busily dispersing all day long re-establishes itself, an inward quiet; it fills one, it grows… it becomes more perfect. It is beautiful and terrifying…

Julia Cameron's 'The Artist's Way's is my creative bible and reading the words you posted about this book of hers means I must get my hands on that one too! Thank you so much for sharing:)

This is one of the most beautiful drawings I saw for quite a while. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Priya,

Your rendering of the night is beautiful, as usual. I love that you relate the little dots of light with Aldous’"broken bits" and "fragments" (I did not know that quote). This goes very well with our ongoing discussion on beauty, on owning it by relating to it through memories and experience. As for the "terrifying" part, I am assuming it has to do with the truth of things, which shows us the truth about ourselves. In other words, it is when beauty becomes the miror of reality.

Priyanka: No one quite talks about the creative process like Julia Cameron does.

cristina, that is a compliment I value because it comes from someone who I think draws very well. I admire what you create and the love and patience you put into it.

The Mushroom Hunter: When I read how you interpreted my work, I have to admit that I took a step back in surprise. So much of what I do is instinctive. But then that must be what you wrote about, the owning of beauty through memories and experience and in my case, expressing it through my drawings.
And yes, I agree, facing the truth about oneself is terrifying (that was what the previous insecurity picture was all about).
As always, I truly appreciate how thoughtfully you have worded what you have to say. Comments on my work which give me food for thought and sometimes lead to a discussion are those I appreciate the most.
