Walrus Tea. Version 2

One Sunday morning, while having my instant fix of Masala Dosa at Shiv Sagar, I noticed before me, two enormous men partaking their morning Chai. The scene grew misty before my eyes and when the mist cleared I saw two Walrus dwarfing the table at which they were seated while delicately sipping from tiny cups of Shiv Sagar Chai.

Version-1 of Walrus Tea was done on a small sheet of Canson paper very carefully trying to stuff two enormous Walrus into a tiny space. The effort shows in those tight lines.
This one, Version-2, was done on an enormous sheet of Sultanpet paper. The space allowed me to use Chunky Charcoal the way it should be used - with plenty of strength and loose arm movements.

At the end of it all, I felt I'd run a marathon.

You're right- this version is better. I love the fluidity and the texture. The smoke swirls are so delicate against the the mass and weight of the walruses. Wonderfully done. I LOVE the tiny tea cups :-)

Priya! I hope this will be available at Crude Area, I HAVE TO get a print! Keep up the good work! I'm out of town for a week, let's definitely meet when I am back. :)

Thank you girls :-)
It was challenging working on such a big size and trying to control charcoal powder getting all over the place. But it looks like the extra effort has resulted in something different.

Love the gorgeous, delicious steam swirls over the tiny cups. Its a direct contrast to the Giant walrus' holding the teacups. Amazing work Priya.

I already loved version 1 of the Walrus tea, but this one is indeed even better!!! How the tea fume rises and how sedate the two walruses look... fantastic, Priya!!!

PS: I can imagine how much effort this must have been... this is an extra-wow :)

Double wow! I notice that this display of strength and loose arm movements helped giving birth to graceful clouds of steam: obviously you took proficiency from Karel Capek's wisdom (I loved the quote in your previous entry!).
